Completing our fundraiser challenge

by | Aug 6, 2025 | Blog

And just like that our 38.7 miles in July for Point North are completed! We’re a bit late to celebrate having been so busy getting ready for a weekend of markets last week but a big THANK YOU to everyone who supported us and donated towards Point North’s fundraiser! 💛

It was a wonderful fundraiser to participate in as A. it was very accessible and pushed me (Carina) to get out and explore my local area more, which I thoroughly enjoyed; and B. it was raising funds and awareness for one of our long term charity partners Point North, who complete vital work at a grass roots level on our doorstep in County Durham.

If you’d still like to make a donation, our page is still open for a couple of days: https://socialsync.app/fundraiser/cr-pz314mqzo5lo

Every little adds up and will help provide vital funds to support the 38.7% of children living in poverty in Durham and the Tees Valley. Thank You ✨

Also a little walk recommendation for fellow North East locals, one of my favourite discoveries along the fundraiser was the Waskerly Way in the Pennines. I completed a lovely circular walk around the Smiddy Shaw Reservoir. The paths are good, it’s dog friendly, not over crowded (perfect for a peaceful walk) and the views are stunning. The Smiddy Shaw loop is probably about 4.5 miles, depending on where you want to park/start, and there’s options to extend by exploring the other reservoirs too. I had never been out that way before the challenging myself to explore more for the fundraiser and I’m glad I did because I loved it so much. I’ll definitely be heading back at some point to explore more of the Waskerly Way – highly recommend.
