At KAFFEEHAUS giving back to our local community is very important to us and we’re proud to be regular supporters of Point North

This month they’ve launched their first ever fundraiser and we’re getting our steps in and taking part in their 38.7 miles in July fundraiser to help raise awareness and funds to support the 38.7% of children who are growing up in poverty in County Durham and Tees Valley.

“Thousands of children in our own communities are falling behind through no fault of their own. As the cost of living continues to rise, more families than ever are struggling to get by. The need is urgent and growing. This challenge gives all of us a way to do something about it,” – Michelle Cooper, Chief Executive at Point North.

Every mile helps to provide: food, uniforms, bedding, holiday clubs, lessons, and more. And any donation you can give, no matter how small, will help to make a difference

I’ve started logging my progress on our joint fundraising page and thought I’d share a little update on here too as I head out to get some miles in whilst exploring more of our local area. On Sunday, I (Carina) drove to Waskerly and did a lovely circular walk around the Smiddy Shaw Reservoir. I’d never been before but loved it so much I’ll definitely be heading back to explore more of the Waskerly Way soon and taking dad with me for a joint walk! If you’ve not been before I highly recommend. The paths were good, it’s dog friendly, not over crowded (perfect for a peaceful walk) and the views are stunning. The Smiddy Shaw loop is probably about 4.5 miles, depending on where you want to park/start, and there’s options to extend by exploring the other reservoirs too
